Blackfish, Tog, Tautog whatever you call them, Blackfish are hard fighting bottom fish that demand the attention of any early spring and fall angler.   Anchoring over or near rocky structures is the most popular method of targeting Blackfish.   Those who don’t fish from a boat can find Blackfish on most southern New England break walls and jetties.   Blackfish are great for stuffing, chowder or frying.   One of our favorites is Blackfish Parmesan with a side of fresh pasta.    Tog are demanding on the tackle!   J&B offers jigs from Asylum, S&S, Joe Baggs, Tsunami, and Tidal Tails for shallow water jigging.   We have also tested and perfected several custom tied rigs.  Purchase pre-tied rigs or the components to tie them yourself.  Perlon (Hard Leader), swivels, hooks, beads and more round out this collection.   We are partial to our J&B Custom Tog rods built on Calstar Blanks but there are many good production rods.   Our staff has picked various rods to fish different conditions, applications (jigs vs. rigs) and they have chosen complimenting reels for these rods.   It is important to choose a reel that will stand up to the battle of the mighty Tog!   Blackfish are stubborn and want to head back to their holes in the rocky structure.
