The MXL Raptor Plus is a great all around bait and jig reel, unlike the old Raptors these drop the low gear ratio down to 2.8:1 giving you a lot more cranking power which will help out a lot when targeting tuna. The wider size accommodates more line than the MXJ, up to 600 yards of 50Lb. The MXL works especially well for live bait and bottom fishing giving its wider size. The Avet Raptors have received a bit of a face lift with some ergonomic changes, the new Raptor Plus models will feature a different frame to make it easier to thumb the spool as well as a more rounded side plate which is more comfortable to hold
