RJ Boyle Universal Swordfish Buoy Spool

The RJ Boyle Universal Swordfish Buoy Spool is a pre-rigged line system designed specifically for buoy rod swordfishing, allowing a second bait to be positioned at a predetermined depth above the bottom while another rod fishes a different section of the water column. Each spool is loaded with 1,500 yards of 80 lb braid and incorporates three marked attachment points at specific depths. Each buoy mark includes a loop for attaching a buoy float, simplifying repeatable bait placement when targeting swordfish at different levels of the water column.

Two configurations are available to accommodate different current conditions. The High Current version, intended for currents over 2 knots, places buoy marks at 1,400, 1,600, and 1,800 feet, while the Low Current version, for currents under 2 knots, uses marks at 1,000, 1,300, and 1,600 feet. The system is compatible with most reels and connects to existing braid using a cat's paw connection, with at least 750 yards of base braid required on the reel. An optional 250 lb wind-on leader can be added once the reel is filled for a complete swordfish buoy rod setup.
