The Daiwa BG MQ Spinning Reels bring Monocoque body construction to the proven BG platform, creating a rigid and powerful reel for saltwater applications ranging from light inshore fishing to heavy offshore use. The one-piece aluminum Monocoque body eliminates the traditional side plate, increasing rigidity while creating additional internal space for a larger drive gear. This design helps maintain precise drivetrain alignment under load while providing the stability and cranking power needed for hard-fighting saltwater species.

Daiwa's Digigear system uses an oversized gear design with larger gear teeth to improve durability, smoothness, and power transfer. Depending on reel size, the BG MQ platform can accommodate gears significantly larger than those used in conventional body designs while maintaining a compact overall profile. With sizes ranging from the 2500 class for lighter inshore applications through the 20000 class for heavy offshore fishing, the series covers everything from speckled trout and similar coastal species to powerful pelagics such as bluefin tuna.
