Rod and Reel Service & Repair

At J&B Tackle, we offer complete rod and reel repair services to Southeastern Connecticut and surrounding areas. We can service all types of reels, from large two speed offshore reels to spinning reels. We have a large inventory of parts for Penn, Shimano, Diawa and other brands. If you need a hard-to-find or discontinued reel part, we may have it in stock. 

Whether you are in the Niantic, CT region or visiting our waters from another state, we provide annual rod & reel maintenance and service. We also work on malfunctioning reels and rods. J&B isn’t an online internet only retailer!   J&B has been a brick and mortar tackle shop located in Niantic, Connecticut for over more than 45 years.   We got our start as a custom rod builder and service center for the Connecticut and Rhode Island charter fleet.  Our 45 plus years of experience give us the confidence to tackle service work with new or old technology from most popular brands.   J&B’s rod service dept. tackles everything from a simple tip repair to complete rewraps, regripping, and gimbal repair.   The reel service dept. is an authorized Shimano service center, Fin Nor service, Everol Service, etc Accurate factory service, Tsunami & SaltX service and warranty, Diawa service and Warranty, Avet service, Penn service and warranty.   Okuma, Abu and Quantum are all serviced on a case by case basis.   Standard service work runs between one and two weeks in season.  Reels with extensive corrosion and those needing parts may have longer lead times. 

** (Pandemic update: Lead times for parts are currently running as long as 6-8 months while manufactures are focusing on complete reel manufacturing and supply.)  

Sending in your service work? Please ship service reels to our service department at the address listed below.  Please complete the evaluation & service form and checkout on our site paying the initial diagnostic fee.  Diagnostic fee includes standard service and return shipping.   Any needed parts will be billed separately.  Any reel that is not worth repairing will be returned and 75% of the diagnostic fee will be refunded.

Shipping Rods for Service Work

Shipping rods for service work may not be cost effective.  Shipping oversized rod boxes can be costly and cause more damage to the rod.  If you would like to ship a Rod to J&B for service work we recommend emailing Sales@jbtackle.com subject “Rod Service” and we will offer a quote for the work and estimated shipping cost based on our normal rod shipping rates.
